Hey Guys!
This week I decided that I’d share with you a beautiful piece on self-love by the lovely Stephanie Mithika. She is the owner of this amazing blog: http://www.missashuka.blogpost.co.ke . I’m sure you’ll enjoy it just as much as I have.
She entitled the poem ‘Coming home to yourself’ and for this reason, I decided to use pictures of sunsets to accompany this post. In the poem, as you will see, she talks about how when you need some peace at the end of the day you should retreat back into yourself and there you will find it. Just like sunsets, we must go back to our homes (ourselves) to realign, readjust and refocus. We must sit with ourselves, notice our thoughts, our silence, our heartbeats and all the things we feel, before we have to rise again.

At the end of the day
when all you need is a place
to lie down and stretch your limbs,
when you need to let your hair down
when you need somebody to rub the soles of your feet,
and tell you to stop running,
when the seams of your heart are bursting
and need to be cradled,
when you need to breathe;
come home to yourself.
Come home to the wanderings of your mind
and the quiet of your soul
come home to the scent of lavender candles
burning, as the flames flicker to India Arie
dancing, as she sings about you.
about you not being your hair
or your size, or skin tone, or body… period.
At the end of the day, this day and everyday
you will come home to yourself,
shed everything at the altar,
and leave nothing but love at the sanctuary of your being.
I hope this week, this verse will you be your testimony and you’ll believe in God’s plan despite your circumstance:
“Though the fig tree should not blossom and there be no fruit on the vines, though the yield of the olive should fail and the fields produce no food, though the flock should be cut off from the fold and there be no cattle in the stalls, yet I will exalt in the LORD, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.” Habakkuk 3:17
Be love and light,
Michelle.
