As I was trying to decide what to write about this week, I came across this really beautiful piece by one of my friends, Keillah, and I hope you like it as much as I did.
I am proud of you.
I am proud of the woman you are becoming.
I am proud of how tall you stand, in 6 inch heels or not.
I am proud of how confident you have become.
I am proud of the tremendous growth you have made.
I am proud because you don’t seek validation anymore from anyone.
I am proud that you don’t seek acceptance due to conformity.
I am proud that you can love yourself with so much depth without needing another.
I am proud because your tears have long dried and I can see that beautiful smile often.
I am proud that you have let go of the hurt and disappointment.
I am proud that you know what you deserve and you’re not willing to settle for any less.
I am proud that you are comfortable in your skin.
I am proud that you no longer hide your beautiful stripes or those gorgeous eyes.
I am proud that you have known real love and real pain.
I am proud of everything you have accomplished.
And when no one else will be there to say it.
I will say it over and over again.
That I am proud of you.
Immensely and extremely proud.
You are beautiful. You are soulful. You are the rays in the morning sun. The sugar in my latte. The rhythm to my music. You are a black powerful woman. You are capable of anything. You are everything. Don’t you ever forget that.
I hope this inspires you to love yourself more for the little things- because the little things aren’t that little.
“Though she fails, she stumbles, she will not fall, for the Lord upholds her with his right hand.” Psalm 37:24
Love and Light,
Michelle.
This is so encouraging and speaks to much to me. Sometimes we just need to look back and see how far we have come 🙂
