BECOMING SELF

Hey Guys!

So last week, my friend Cindy and I worked on a writing collaboration on the topic of self-love. For today’s post, I’ll be sharing what Cindy came up with and then I’ll share my piece in the next post. Enjoy the poem and if you’d like to see more of her work, you can follow her on both Instagram and Twitter: @literaturedazzl.

Becoming self in the most intimate way after disappointment:

Oceans say you teach yourself how to bear disappointment as a lesson.

You listen to the wind and you materialize that not every flower can be picked

A softer shade of cherries is felt: look in the mirror and love yourself

And you tell yourself to learn how not to control unjustified, magnitudinal frequencies of yesterday

For beauty comes once, twice or is coming

And one must not institute into some forms of wilderness in search for inner resolution, solution, peace

things that cannot be understood

For I looked within myself and discovered that even I couldn’t fathom a greatness between them two, us two

so I relaxed by the beach, with acceptance between my legs,

Glowing at my face

Looking in the mirror: beauty magnificent. beauty magnified.

<not wondering if maybe I had miscalculated some miscellaneous drift>

I didn’t ask I sought sought

sought

Sought sought

Within

I may not have found the diamonds glistening under the silver bridge, under the shimmering river we built

But I heard sounds of gold. and of laughter and of rain

Right there: right then

I never asked about the future before and after

we cracked. we cracked. we cracked.

Did I ask about the future before and after we cracked? I was mending wounds.

“Let us not grow weary doing good for in due season we will reap if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9

Be love and Be light,

Michelle.
