Hey Guys!

I can’t believe we are actually almost halfway through this year. I do hope that this year has been kind to you so far and if not, that you’ve grown somewhat.  I know that for most for people, this is usually a time to take stock of how far they are in relation to the person they’d like to have grown into by the end of the year. Today’s post isn’t a taking stock however, but more of an encouragement to actually take stock as well as to be gentle when you do.

As much as it is of great importance to reflect on your progress thus far, it is also okay to cut yourself some slack if you fell back a little and everything didn’t go exactly as planned. Remember that as much as there are the big leaps that perhaps you should have made by now, there are also the small steps that you’ve made as well as the tremendous growth from your starting point- where it all begun.

“Trust. Everything is unfolding & blossoming in divine timing. Learn to trust the journey.”

So as you take this time to look back on the first half of this year, I hope you remember to be grateful for the little victories, even those things that didn’t necessarily go as we planned. For loving yourself tremendously for two weeks then crumbling for a whole week after, celebrate the small victory of those two weeks. For refusing those fries today and then stuffing your face two days later, forgive yourself, cut yourself some slack.

“Things don’t always work out the way we hope. You just have to pick yourself up and find a new direction to go in.”

– Joelle Charbonneau

Then again, if you do feel inadequate or unable to find the light while taking stock, it’s perfectly fine to let yourself be disappointed then eventually get out of the rut and change your situation. Let yourself feel that disappointment but don’t wallow in it, pick yourself up and do something to make sure that when you finally reflect on the last half of this year, you can be proud of yourself.

Lastly, one more tip I have for your reflection is writing a letter from the person you are now to the person you’d like to have become by whatever time frame you’ll reset your goals to. This will help to track your progress when you finally re-read it when your time elapses or to motivate you when you lose focus along the journey of actualizing your dreams.

I’ll leave you with some words from one of my favorite poets:

It is important to visit

That place inside you.

That place no other human

Is allowed to enter.

There you will find no fear.

You will find the laughing sun

And you will love there

And rise there and fall there

And break there and put

yourself back together there.

Let that be the only thing

you live for and let it take you back

where you began.

To begin within, I swear…

that might be the most beautiful thing

in the world.
