THE ‘WHAT’ AND ‘HOW’

Hey Guys,

I know its been a while since I shared some of my writing on here so I decided to share two brief pieces that I was prompted to write a while ago. In the spirit of Valentine’s day, they are both about love.

The first is a succinct answer to the question ‘How would you want to be loved?’.

How to Love Me:

On how to love me,

Softly but strongly,

Fully and honestly,

Say it when you mean it,

Say it and mean it.

Love you first then love me where it hurts.

Stay.

Love me and stay.

The second piece is my answer to the question ‘What is love?’ and the poem is but a fraction of what I think it is.(It can never fully be defined) This poem focuses on bringing love out as a choice and not merely a feeling.

Love is grey

so sometimes it’s staying and sometimes it’s leaving.

It’s choosing over and over again,

laughing and crying together.

It’s bringing out the best and worst in each other,

It’s growing and learning from each other

But it’s also breaking in each other: with each other

It’s safe havens but not homes,

It’s freeing and not binding

It’s calming and safe but sometimes it’s hard

It’s honesty and vulnerability,

It’s fixing the good and the bad:

Love is trying,

and sometimes that means staying.

I hope this prompts you to think about how you want to be loved and what the love means to you in this season of love.

“Let all that you do be done with love.” 1 Corinthians 16:14

Be love and Be light,

Michelle Malonza.

  1. I love these lines:

But it’s also breaking in each other: with each other

It’s safe havens but not homes,

    It’s freeing and not binding

It’s calming and safe but sometimes it’s hard

    It’s honesty and vulnerability.

    So succinct and true.
